Had no computer for a few days..
...because as usual I am taking risks. To risk is to live.
After I bought my iPod Nano I got the Apple bug. I am all about elegant, and that's how I feel about Apple. So last year I took the leap and switched to a Mac. At the same time I switched to a laptop. I spent the most I have ever spent on a computer since I bought my first computer back in '81. I bought the biggest, best laptop Apple had.
Very soon after I bought it I realized I had made a mistake. Laptops are meant to be small and portable, so, although I have been rewarded everday since with the small joy of being in the Apple family, it is tinged with the small nagging thought that I wish I had bought a smaller model.
I debated a trade at craigslist, but that would entail trading my top of the line leviathan for an unknown unit of theoretically lesser value. Kinda scary.
What tipped the scale was my upcoming trip to Egypt. I am debating taking my laptop. My joy was being tainted everyday. I wanted a smaller laptop. I pulled the trigger.
Took my 17 incher in to SimplyComputing. Paid $200 to get it cloned. Made the trade through craigslist. Had the clone put on my new 15 incher, and now I have the exact same setup on a laptop that gives me nothing but unbridled joy. Risk. Reward.
I have the documents and application to apply for my passport, and I have digital backups which I will use to update this page soon, for anyone interested in my quest.
My NetWorth has started climbing again, but it's just temporary as I have a big payout coming this month, then its Blue Sky after that.
Everyone I know is healthy.
Seems I am always posting about confronting fear. It's empowering.
I saw a blog about FreeTheNet.ca. Supply free wireless internet to the masses. I bookmarked the meeting. Showed up. No signs. No street address match. I could go home. At least I'd tried. Or. I could ask for directions. Eeek. Confront fear. Asked. Found. Room full of techie/geeks/doers. Squirm. Head up. Brave face. Bought a node. Set it up, and now I am providing free wireless internet in my neighborhood.
Bought a new guitar. Martin DXK1. Damn muse.
